Rules-Driven XML Communication

Previous Next

XML, the eXtensible Markup Language, can be used to present information in a highly structured manner. XML technology is strongly related to data modeling, relational databases and query languages (XSLT, XQL). The XML standard is positioned as the best solution in the area of business-to-business (B2B) communication.

The great strength of the XML concept is that it provides an implementation-independent format for data exchange and, along with the data itself, a description of how that data should be interpreted. Using XML technology, data can be exchanged between applications that use different technical implementations. This avoids physical data import problems and the need to use different data formats.

XML strongly promotes the separation of conceptual data (data content and data descriptions), and presentation logic and technical specifications. Java, HTML and even the latest component technology do not do this. The USoft Series has always made this separation in its repositories and tools.
