The Alternative Template Folder

For each publication, you can specify an alternative template folder when creating the publication or when publishing. In this folder you can store additional CSS style sheets, XSL transformation sheets, images, (Java)script files, and other publication-dependent files.

When publishing, first all files from the <USoft installation>/PageEngine/templates folder are copied to the publication folder. Then, the following files will be copied to the publication folder, overwriting other published files:

· Files with css extension that are stored in the <alternative templates>/WebSite/css folder.

· Files with xsl extension that are stored in the <alternative templates>/xsl folder.

· Images that are stored in the <alternative templates>/WebSite/images folder.

· Files with js extension that are stored in the <alternative templates>/WebSite/js folder.

· Files with htm and html extension that are stored in the <alternative templates>/html folder.

· Your own versions of the following files that are stored in the <alternative templates>/WebSite folder:
· global.asa

· application.asp

· application.jsp

IMPORTANT:

When using alternative template files, take care when installing a new USoft version. These alternative files must be updated manually.

For example, when using your own version of Strings.js or GenericActions.js it is possible that the default versions of these files are changed. If this happens the changes in the default version must also be implemented in the custom (Alternative Template) version.

Default versions of these files are stored in:

<usoft installation folder>/PageEngine/templates/WebSite
