External Schema XML Export Files

Previous Next

You can create an external schema XML Export File (formerly referred to as ESI script) for one individual GUI class. This enables you to:

Copy a GUI class from one repository to another.

Copy a GUI class from one application to another.

Copy a GUI class under a different name in one and the same application.

For instance, if you have designed a Customers info window by adding look and feel specifications to it, you can transfer these specifications to another repository, another repository version, or another application via an XML export.

You can create an external schema XML export file for a window class, a dialog class or a control class. Do not confuse XML exports and ESI reports:

XML exports are used to copy a GUI class from one repository or application to another.

ESI reports are used to inspect the contents of the ESI tables within a single repository.
