To be able to define a task set, first make sure that all task set "components" that you need are defined, in terms of repository versions, releases, baskets, comparisons, and release comparisons.

If you plan to use task sets with USoft 7.0/7.1 repositories, you have to specify the Task Sets – us7path setting in the Folder Locations window once. For example:

To define a task set:
1. | From the Repository Manager menu, select Define, Task Sets. |
| Open the Task sets window from the Configure Tab of the catalog |
| The Task Sets window opens. |
2. | Specify a unique Name for the task set, and optionally a Description. |
| For example: Export TRAVEL repositories, with description: |
| Exports today's Development, Test, and Acceptance versions of the Travel Agency. |
| You can now define tasks in the related box. For each task: |
3. | Choose a task Type from the dropdown list. |
| A task can be a Compare, Create, Export, Flat Files, Import Into, Open, Task Set, and XML View task. For more information, refer to: Tasks within a Task Set. |
4. | In the On field, specify the repository type (Definer, Authorizer, BenchMark, or Application). |
| This does NOT apply to Flat Files , Task Set and XML View tasks. |
5. | Specify a Host Repository, and other fields as follows: |
