Max Character Width property

Previous Next

This is where you specify whether the average width of a proportional-font character is taken to calculate the width of a field (if No), or the maximum character width (if Yes).

Using the average width can lead to field lengths that cannot display all characters without scrolling. If you use the maximum character width, all characters will be displayed.

If you set this property to No, subtype indicator columns are displayed as "normal columns", and the window will not have buttons to open the subtype windows.

If you set this property to Yes , all subtype presentations are shown (where "all" may be limited to the ones listed in the Subtype Presentations property). Any subtypes not mentioned on that list will be shown as normal columns

You do not need to set this property for one-character fields because they are automatically calculated correctly.
