In this step, you will have a look at the HTML reports you just created.
To explore an HTML report in List style:
1. | Locate the TourData_ListView.htm file in the "<installation>\Testdrive\Htmlgenerator\ListView" folder, then double click to open the file in your browser. |
2. | In the HTML report, click on the (underlined) Scheduled Tours links to have the "child" (SCHEDTOUR) data displayed in the browser. |
3. | Click the Back button in the ribbon bar to display the "parent" (TOUR) data again. |
4. | Pay attention to the data in the Address field (Internet Explorer) or Location field (Netscape) of the browser. |
| Clicking hyperlinks causes other files to be loaded in the browser, so in the TourData_ListView.htm file the link information (HREF information) is generated by the HTML Generator. |
5. | Pay special attention to the structure of the list view. |
To explore an HTML report in Table style:
1. | Locate the TourData_TableView.htm file in the "<installation>\Testdrive\Htmlgenerator\TableView" folder, and then open the file. |
2. | In the HTML report, click the Scheduled Tours link to have the "child" data displayed in the right-hand frame. |
3. | Pay attention to the data in the Address/Location field of the browser. Clicking hyperlinks does not cause the original TourData_TableView.htm file to be replaced by other files but the HTML files containing the "child" data are loaded in a separate frame. |
To explore an HTML report in Form style:
1. | Locate the TourData_FormView.htm file in the "<installation>\Testdrive\Htmlgenerator\FormView" folder, and then open the file. |
2. | Note the structure of the report: "child" data is displayed within the same document. |
This concludes the short track
If you want to do the long track as well, now go to Step 5: Exploring the Sample Data Model.
