XML Repositories

Previous Next

USoft Repository Manager enables you to export USoft repositories (Definer, Authorizer, BenchMark) in XML format, entirely or partially. The result of such an export action is an XML document called an XML repository.

An XML repository consists of (repository) sections, that may or may not be populated. These sections can be considered as a hard-coded partitioning of the USoft (USD) repository. A section consists of entities, that are the output of an XML export statement, with an additional pk attribute that specifies the number of primary key columns (needed to compare records, and detailed later).

As an example, here is a screenshot of an XML repository of a fictitious Travel Agency. The <external> section represents the ESI repository, and is exported in ESI XML format. This is the same format (also referred to as ESI Report or external schema XML export file) as currently used in Windows Designer and Web Designer.
