Installing USoft Developer

Before you can install or use USoft Developer, you must have a valid LICENSE.DAT file installed. This file will have been provided to you by the USoft Order desk. You should refer to the instructions provided with LICENSE.DAT for details of how to install and use it.

To install USoft Developer:

1.Make sure that your PC, network, and RDBMS are properly configured.
2.Insert the USoft Series CD-ROM in your CD drive, and wait for the Installation Wizard to initialize, and the welcome message to appear.
If you are installing from a source other than a CD, or if you have switched off autorun on your pc, navigate to the base folder of the installation package, and double-click the file named:
SetupUSoft<version>.exe
where <version> is the version number of this release of the USoft product set, for example: 9.0.1C. Wait for the Installation Wizard to initialize, and the welcome message to appear.
NOTE: If the current release of USoft is already installed on your system, you will be presented with a list of maintenance options at this point. You can choose to:

Peform a complete new installation. Parameters are collected from a previous installation, and you can change them during the setup.

Perform a silent reinstallation using the parameters of the previous installation. No dialogs are displayed.

Repair the previous installation, checking and correcting missing files and registry settings. No dialogs are displayed.

Add or remove application features.

Uninstall all USoft components from your system.

3.Click Next to continue.
You will now be asked to type the path to your license file (LICENSE.DAT). This file will have been provided to you by the USoft Order desk. You should refer to the instructions provided with this file for details of how to install and use it. Note that you cannot install or use USoft Series products without a valid LICENSE.DAT file.
4.Type the path to your LICENSE.DAT file, or use the Browse button to locate it, and click Next to continue.
You will now be asked to type your name, company name, and customer registration number . This number will be needed if you call a USoft support desk for support. If you have not been supplied with a customer registration number, call a USoft support desk.
NOTE: Once the software is installed, you can see your registration number at any time by choosing About from the Help menus of the various USoft Series products.
5.Type your name, company name, registration number, and click Next to continue.
You will now be asked in which folder the USoft Series products must be installed. The default is C:\Program Files\USD8. The wizard allows you to check the available space on the drives of your PC before you choose a drive and folder for installation.
You will also be asked to specify a location for the USoft Log folder. See "Log Files and Temporary Files" in the related topics below for more information about the central USoft log folder.
6.Click Next to accept the default installation folder and log folder, or click browse if you want to specify other folders.
You will now be asked in which program group the program items must be installed. The default is USoft Series.
7.Click Next to accept the default program group, or specify another program group first.
You will now be asked to choose whether you want a complete or custom installation of USoft Series products.

If you choose for a complete installation, all USoft Series products that are available for your RDBMS type will be installed.

If you choose for a custom installation, you will be asked to choose from a list the USoft Series products you wish to install. Choose this option if you do not wish to install the complete product set.

NOTE: You may only install products for which you have purchased a license.
8.Choose the installation option you require, and click Next to continue. If you choose Custom, you will have to fill in an additional dialog.
Follow the instructions on your screen and when you have finished, click Next to continue.
9.You will now be asked if you want to install the Microsoft XML Parser. If you haven't installed this parser yet, choose Yes, by checking the appropriate box. The Microsoft XML Parser V4.0 SP2 will be installed with a separate install executable.
Click Next to continue.
10.Once you have completed all the previous screens of the wizard, the wizard is now ready to install the USoft software. Click Next to start copying files. Depending upon which products you have chosen to install, and the RDBMS type, the required files on the CD-ROM are copied to the appropriate directories. A status screen is displayed to keep you informed of progress.
11.Once the installation of all the required files has completed, the final screen of the wizard is displayed. You can choose to view the Additional Notes or to launch the USoft Binder. Click Finish to finish the installation process and close the Installation Wizard.
