COM and DCOM components (Automation servers)

Previous Next

The Component Object Model (COM) and Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) are standards for developing software components, small binary executables that provide services to applications, operating systems, and other components. COM components are connected to form applications or systems of components. COM is the foundation on which Microsoft technologies such as ActiveX, DirectX and OLE are built.
