Project Tab

This is the name used to refer to this project, and for naming the project file. This name is displayed on the window bar of the USoft Binder window.

Choose Development if the USoft Binder file is for use at design-time.

Choose Production only if you intend to distribute a C/S application to end users and you plan to distribute the USoft Binder file as a means of end user access to the application.

If the USoft application consists of several modules, you can specify the name of the module that this Binder project applies to. If a module is specified and the application is run from database only, this module is run from database. The remaining modules are read from flat file.

Furthermore, the name specified here is used in the Definer as default name when generating flat files.

If no module is specified and the application runs from database:

•The main module (that has the same name as the application) is read from database.

•The other modules are read from flat file.

•In Windows Designer, the main module is designed.

This is the language of the messages and online help topics that are to be used for this project. For example, to display Japanese messages and help topics in the Japanese version of the USoft Developer Series, type JPN in this field. In the production environment, message files can be activated for the application. See your USoft Definer Guide or USoft Definer help for more information on localizing your application.

In addition to USoft Binder standard variables, you can add variables of your own. Enter the name, followed by an equal sign (=), followed by the value and a semi-colon (:), for example:

port=2233; color=blue;

Extra white spaces around the name or value will be ignored.

You can add as many variables as you like.

You can refer to a variable in many places in USoft Binder. To do this, place the variable name in curly brackets, using either exact case spelling or all-uppercase spelling:

{PORT}

Variable values are case-sensitive, variable names are not.

USoft Binder standard variables are overwritten by a user-declared variable of the same name, but the dbpassword and reppassword standard variables cannot be overwritten.
