An export task exports the data into a file that can be used by an external application. The format of this file is described by means of an external set, which you must define before you can define your export task.

The data to be written to the file is determined by means of a SELECT statement.

You can use export tasks, for example, to:

· Export data for use in external applications such as spreadsheets, word processors (mail merge) , and so on.

· Export data for use in other USoft applications.

· Create backup data files.
