For example, using EAI it would be possible for a
travel agency to have direct access to an airline's back office, so
that information can be exchanged with the airline's Available
Flights and Flight Reservations tables in their database system.
The availability of a flight can be checked, the availability of
seats on that flight can be confirmed, and a seat reserved for a
customer immediately. This information would appear in the USoft
application interface in the same way as information from any other
database table. The reservation details would be stored in both the
travel agency system and the airline's back office system. The
connection between the USoft Rules Engine and the airline's back
office system would be handled by an external component.
