The Data Model Loader utility allows you to load meta-data from a Universal Data Access source directly into USoft Developer.

To load meta-data directly from a Universal Data Access source into USoft Developer:

1. From the USoft Definer menu bar, choose Tools, Data Model Loader, Universal Data Access.
2. In the Data Model Loader window, check that:
· The External Connection pane in this window shows the external meta-data you last connected to.
· The USoft Connection pane shows the USoft Developer meta-data.

If not, you first need to set up Data Model Loader connections.

3. If you wish to connect to another UDA data source, make sure the cursor is in the External Connection pane. Click Connect, and then provide the required information. You can also choose Load, Connect from the menu bar.

The External Connection pane now shows a representation of the external meta-data you connected to.

4. In the External Connection pane, select the meta-data elements you want to load. You can select a single element by clicking on it, or use the Select All and Unselect All options to select or unselect all leaf nodes within the current folder.

Selected items are marked by overlay icons on leaf nodes, NOT at folder node level.

When navigating through the tree view, you can click Stop to interrupt lengthy tree view node expansion. The selection and stop options are also available from the Load menu.

5. Click Transfer, or choose Load, Transfer Selected Items from the menu bar.

The meta-data is now transferred to USoft Developer. If required, you can interrupt lengthy transfer procedures by clicking Stop.

To view newly loaded data in the USoft Connection pane, select the parent folder in this pane. Click Refresh, or choose Load, Refresh Folder from the menu bar.

Inspect transfer log and error information by choosing Load, Transfer Log and Error Log options from the menu bar. Deal with errors as required.

NOTE:

For view definitions, only the view's SQL statement is transferred.

To get USoft to store dependency information and use the view as a Logical View:

· Retrieve the view in the Logical Views definition window.

· Click the Check button.
