The fewer local settings there are, the more efficient the maintenance of your system will be. In other words, the higher up in the hierarchy you define settings, the fewer settings there will be, and the more efficient development and maintenance will be.

For this reason, always use the Reset button on the Property Inspector if you want to revert to a default or inherited value. For example, if you want to change the orientation of a Column Box object from horizontal to vertical (i.e. the default value), use the Reset button. Do not specify the default value as a (new) local value.
