If you intend to host a USoft
Web application or use USoft Rules Service on a Windows XP machine
with Service Pack 2 installed, you must configure the SP2 firewall.
You must open a TCP port in order to allow Internet Information
Services (IIS) to pass the firewall. To do this:
1.
|
From the Windows XP Control panel, choose the Administrative
Tools option and double click on Internet Information Services
(IIS). |
2.
|
In the left-hand pane of the Internet Information Services
(IIS) Management Console, navigate to the Default Web Site. |
3.
|
Click your right mouse button on the Default Web Site item, and
from the resulting context menu choose Properties. |
4.
|
Check, and remember the value for TCP Port (default = 80). |
5.
|
Close the IIS Management Console. |
6.
|
From the Control Panel, open the Security Center, followed by
Windows Firewall. |
7.
|
In the firewall manager, click the Exceptions Tab and press the
Add Port button. |
8.
|
Type in a name (IIS) and the port number obtained in step 4
above (default = 80). |
9.
|
Choose the TCP radio button and click OK. |
On many occasions USoft
programs may try to access the Internet, for example, when opening
a Web page on the Internet or when establishing a TCP connection to
another computer. On these occasions the XP2 firewall will prompt
you to allow the USoft program access and the program will run
without any difficulties.
