Web design started with achieving a professional look-and-feel for Internet sites. This covered everything from ergonomic color schemes to web-specific, user-friendly writing and natural user navigation, good ways of getting more attention to a site, and efficient coverage of business purposes.

What web design has yet to extensively cover is the integration of back office data. The reason for this being, that for a long time, Internet technology did not allow extensive connections between web sites and live back office databases.
