Deployment Configurations

In general, the Rules Engine includes automatic optimization of the run-time environment based on embedded algorithms. In most cases, the efficient partitioning of work between client and server tiers is automatically delivered.

However, certain additional parameters can be set manually. This is done separately for each user group. The reason that manual optimization is related to user groups is that, in a number of cases, optimization can be improved by using the developer's inside knowledge about run time user group characteristics such as:

· Client access mode (Local Area Network or Wide Area Network)

· Expected query activity versus update activity

· Number of records likely to be queried or manipulated

· Acceptable response time at manipulation time versus at commit time

· Expected user concurrency

A set of additional parameter settings is called a deployment configuration. First specify one or more configurations. Then assign the deployment configuration(s) to (a) user group(s). USoft Authorizer provides two default configurations (for a LAN and a WAN) which you can accept or use as a starting point for editing. Each new user group is associated with the LAN configuration by default.
