Getting started

Previous Next

To get started with USoft Model and Rules, you need an empty or an existing database account with a username, password and database connect string, and you need to have USoft installed on your machine.

USoft Model and Rules is a module of the USoft Definer tool. USoft Definer is accessed from a tool called USoft Binder. You can find detailed information on USoft Binder in the USoft Binder Guide.

Once you have access to an empty or an existing database account and you have USoft installed, follow these steps for a quick start:

1.Start USoft Binder.
2.Create a new USoft Binder project. A project is stored in a file with extension .USB.
3.From the USoft Binder menu, choose File, Project Properties, Database and make sure the database account you are going to use is properly identified.
4.From the USoft Binder menu, choose Item, New. In the dialog, select at least the Authorizer, Definer, and User Application items, then press Add. Save work.
5.From the Authorizer item, right-click and choose Create Tables. Press OK.
6.From the Definer item, right-click and choose Create Tables. Press OK.
7.Double-click the Definer item.
USoft Definer opens. USoft Model and Rules is on the Model and Rules tab of the project catalog on the left hand side. Objects in USoft Model and Rules may also be created and accessed from the Define option in the menu.
